Academic Index - Chances of Acceptance

WHAT THE NUMBER MEANS

Above is a chart that relates a student's academic index to possible admits. On the lower end of the chart (scores below 210), the likely reason for an admittance are listed. For example, a student with a score of 200-210 could still garner admittance to a top school if he had an excellent resume, remarkable recommendations, a superior essay, and showed some unique skill or dedication to a particular state wide or national cause or interest. At the very bottom of the scale, scores below 200, admission is only possible for students who are recruited athletes, from a recruited demographic, or for a student from a family that has already been or will become a major donor. A score below 170, which is more than 2.5 standard deviations from the mean AI of any Ivy, precludes admission under almost any circumstance. The chart shows the percentage chance of receiving 1 acceptance to an Ivy League school, assuming the student applies to 5 different Ivies and has an average to good application. Chances will rise significantly with superior supporting materials.
