Focused Coaching came into being to fill the void left by traditional high school and college guidance counseling. In our first few months as Focused Tutoring - the standardized test preparation part of our business - we saw good students, with good or improvable scores, discouraged from applying to top schools, dissuaded from striving to fulfill their potential, and encouraged to settle. At Focused Coaching, we don't believe in settling. We believe in planning and doing the improbable.

By setting the highest possible goals for our clients and striving towards them in a rigorous and methodical manner, we achieve what other counselors and often even our clients did not believe was possible. At Focused Coaching, all of our coaches attended top national universities and graduate programs and know both what it takes to get in and succeed at the best educational institutions in the country.

The Focused Coaching Method demands that students delve beyond the surface and seek deep and complete understanding. We view every application, activity, class, or test our clients confront as an opportunity to reach and even exceed expectations. We also seek to aid our clients in achieving non-traditional goals. If a client wants to become a business owner, start a band, publish a book, or do a gallery show, we work to make that reality happen now, not after high school or after the next degree. Too many people fail to achieve their goals by doing things on someone else's timetable. At Focused Coaching, we believe the time to begin is now.

Our goal at the end of one of our coaching programs is to give clients the tools necessary to succeed not just in college or graduate school application but in actualizing any dream or goal the client may have.
